Why I Dropped Out Of College

“I don’t know how some things are going to happen but I don’t have or need all of the answers because I trust God with my life. His track record is perfect so why not give Him all of my faith? I know that this journey won’t be easy but God never promised us easiness or comfort. He promised us that He would never leave us nor forsake us through any of it and I’m content with that.”
“All in all, I don’t have all of the answers, I don’t know how everything is going work out, but I have faith and that’s enough for me. “

Our UNIQUENESS

You see.. The way my life is set up.

God knows you so well!

Your christian life may not be the same as your brothers’, or your sisters’

You experiences on your journey may not be the same either.

You are YOU.

Remember, you are living a totally different life than the next person but God loves you both the same way.

Why worry about “how spiritual” someone seems?

We are all made to be unique and that applies to our journey as Christians as well.

LET HIM WORK.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory. (‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28-30‬ NLT)

He’s all that Matters

Why is it only when things begin go wrong that we start shouting for the Lords help?

Why don’t we continue on a path of righteousness day in and day out?

We need to stand firm or before you know it you WILL be shaken.

It is hard to keep up because life gets busy, things happen, but that doesn’t make it not worth the effort.

Begin to rearrange your schedule and focus on God.

He doesn’t want you to miss out on His marvelous blessings.

He IS what matters, so focus on Him.

When God moves, You move.. Just like that.

So yesterday was special.

I allowed God to work and it felt awesome.

Two days ago on my way back from the train station I saw another homeless man who sat collecting change.

However, when I went closer to him, he said he just needed a pillow and some sheets. I promised him i’d get that for him…

Later that day, I took one of my pillows and my warmest blanket and headed towards the train station but I didn’t see him. So I thought, Ok let me pray about this first then try again.

Yesterday, I went out to eat dinner with a friend and felt in my spirit that I was going to see this man and give him what he needed.

Guess what happened..
I saw him.

I didn’t have the stuff with me so I went to speak to him and let him know i’d be right back in about 10 minutes.

So.. I went to my room, put the pillow and blanket in a bag and started heading right back towards the station.

Thankfully, he waited for me!

He was on the phone with his mom but told her to hold on and was so thankful.

So thankful that he asked for a hug saying “May I hug you? I’m not dirty.”

It was so heart warming and humbling knowing that God had started something new in this mans life.

Moral of the story:

Don’t be afraid to be kind to people on the streets. They need you.

Don’t judge them. They need you.

Lend a helping hand knowing that God would do the rest. They need you.

More so, God needs you.

Please please please, if God is telling you to do something, DO IT.

I’m not sharing this to get any praise because that’s the last thing I want. Be kind because God has been kind and merciful to you and not so the world can praise you. The worlds praise is finite.

Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it. (‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭17‬ NLT)

“STEER CLEAR” – Josh McDowell

This is from the YouVersion Bible App- Josh McDowell’s Daily Reading Plan

STEER CLEAR!

A wealthy man was once searching for a chauffeur to drive his limousine. Many people applied for the job, but the millionaire picked only a few to take a driving test.

The millionaire sat comfortably in the back of the limousine and told the first applicant to begin driving. As they drove along a narrow mountain road, the millionaire called to the driver, “See how close you can steer us to the edge of the cliff without falling off.” The driver, eager to show his skill, steered the expensive car within a few feet of the dangerous bluff. When they returned to the mansion, the millionaire said, “Thank you. We’ll let you know.”

The second driver then slipped behind the steering wheel. Again, the millionaire said, “See how close you can steer us to the edge of the cliff without falling off.” The driver, who was determined to outdo the first applicant, steered the long limousine within inches of the cliff! When they returned to the mansion, the millionaire told the second driver, “Thank you. We’ll let you know.”

Another driver then took the second driver’s place and was given the same instructions. But the third driver answered, “No way! I wouldn’t go near the edge of that cliff no matter how much money you paid me!” The millionaire smiled and answered, “You’re hired!”

The millionaire’s request was not intended to test the driver’s skill; it was intended to test each man’s wisdom. When he found a man who would steer clear of danger even if it meant losing a potential job, he knew he had found a safe driver.

God is looking for young men and women who will steer clear of danger, too, because he knows that making right choices begins with avoiding temptation. He doesn’t want his children to see how close they can get to sin without giving in. He wants you and me to look at temptation and say, “No way! I’m not getting near that!”

Many wrong choices can be avoided if we just steer clear of temptation. The Bible says: “Run from all these evil things, and follow what is right and good” (1 Timothy 6:11). If you’re tempted to steal cookies, stay out of the kitchen! If your friends are trying to get you to try cigarettes, get some new friends! In other words, if you avoid the temptation before you’re tempted, you’re less likely to be tempted. And that will make it easier for you to make the right choice.

REFLECT: Do you usually steer close to temptation or do you tend to steer clear of temptation? Think of your three strongest temptations. How can you steer clear of them?

PRAY: “Lord, give me the desire to run from all that is evil and to follow all that is right and good.”

I pray you were blessed by this. In our generation, temptation is everywhere. My brother and I say #ItsTooEasy because it really is so easy especially when you’re away from home and in college. Don’t let temptation get the best of you; if Jesus could “steer clear”, I’m sure we all can too ( By His Grace) .

Maybe i’ll share more about my take on temptation and title it #It’sTooEasy. Watch out for that one

We All Expire- Tears Ain’t Gon’ Save Him

homeless-italian-bumSo I was walking back to my dorm room at about 8:30pm a couple days ago and I was almost in tears.

Then I thought “tears ain’t gon’ save him”

There was a homeless man.

In the cold,

laying on the floor, making trash his pillow,

helpless,

just there.

Lonely.

I felt his pain.

There are SO many people in this world without a place to stay and without someone to hug.

We spend so much time frustrated and praying prayers that are so focused on our “self”.

This self would soon end..

Pray a bit more for others.

Make it a task to pray for someone or people that you care about.

Pray for the homeless..

Pray for the poor..

Pray for people that just want love..

Pray that God will smother then with his everlasting love Pray that they will meet God and God would meet them where they are.

Tears really ain’t gon save no one (I know, my lingo is tough)

Spread His Love through a simple prayer!

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. (‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭3-5‬ NLT)

LOVE.. Is the greatest of them all

You know when you’re feeling really down but God knows and He’s got you, so he puts something within your view (for me this video) and it lifts you up. No this man is not directly preaching the gospel but God’s word says :

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love. (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭13‬ NLT)

God Doesn’t Recognize Sinners!!

This post is inspired by a small group discussion at my school’s IVC.

So our group was talking about the image of God in relation to us as human beings and it totally blew my mind so I thought i’d share.

Basically,

God created us in His image, and His plan was for us to live in and like His image, right?

So now if we look at Genesis where God calls out for Adam saying “Adam where are you?”

Why do you think He asked Adam that? Don’t you think God should have already known where Adam was? I mean He is GOD.

Well no, what we realized is that God asked “Adam, where are you?” because he could no longer recognize Adam because of Adams sin! Moreover, the image of God-which Adam was meant to be reflecting– became distorted!!

Now if you look at modern day society, we are so far in the game of sin and that passage shows us that what we need to do is clean up our image and try to be more like God and reflect a clearer picture of His image.

How do we do this? We do this by living like Christ: the Son of God. That is the only way God can recognize us, we need to be a better reflection of God, that’s the only way He can recognize us as His children…

Then the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?” (‭Genesis‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ NLT)

So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭27‬ NLT)

GET CONNECTED!!

Honestly,

IMG_1163.JPG if you want a better relationship with the Lord, you really have to plug yourself in.

Find a christian group where you fit in and become surrounded by the right people!!

It really matters…

Don’t just be a “church goer”, get involved in that COMMUNITY.

I recently joined my schools’ christian fellowship and I love it already. Being surrounded by christians is very important when you’re growing in Christ.

Surround yourself with light and you will become light!!

I’m yelling at you, yes you, GET PLUGGED IN!

Christian groups etc. may seem freaky but they really aren’t, they are so fun. Promise me that you’ll get connected?

All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it. (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭27‬ NLT)

We are a chosen generation…

So act like one.you_are_a_chosen_generation_wide_t

Stop all these games.

Passing each other around? Absolutely unacceptable.

Wild parties? Please stop.

God did not say don’t have fun, but please redefine your definition fun.

Is what you do REALLY fun?

Please let us begin to act like a chosen generation.

We are wasting time on foolish things.

There is more to life than “Henny in your system”

There is more to life than “a summer fling”

There is more to life than the gossip.

Do not run away from the fact that it is a sin.

We are sinning.

God loves you SO much, yet you continue to let him down.

Please focus on what really matters.

I beg of you, stop it!

God needs us NOW.

He needs us to prosper, he wants us to prosper.

His word says “I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in perfect health

The alcohol is killing you
The girls are killing you
The boys are killing you

Of course we can celebrate, but be smart and pure about it.

God sees your heart, he knows what you do when you’re alone.

Please.

We NEED to step up.
Let’s be the chosen generation!

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. (‭III John‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬ NKJV)

My Appointment with the Holy Spirit.

“So God is real like this??” Those were the words that I could think of after such a magnificent appointment.

On Thursday, July 22nd, (or Wednesday, I don’t recall) the urge to go to my churches Friday night service overtook me.

Friday came about, we had just landed at JFK and I didn’t forget to remind my mom that we must go to church!

As the day went on, I realized I had to get my hair done before school started so I was to have a hair appointment at 5pm and church was to start at 7pm so I figured, alright I’ll miss it… Whatever.

That was my plan; ok I’ll miss Friday’s service, cool; however God knew that I was to have an appointment with the Holy Spirit that evening and I couldn’t miss it.

About 40 minutes after I booked my 5pm appointment, the hairdresser called and said “Come now, I’m free” (1:30pm), I said ok I’ll be there by 2:30. Of course 2:30 meant 3:20 and I started at about 4pm then I realized I should be done in time for church at 7!

I sat in the chair unsettled and asked for whatever style would be done fastest, so I ended up doing big twists because I didn’t want to sit for long.

At about 6:30pm, I told my mom she should come and get me and I’d finish my hair tomorrow, as ends of my twists weren’t complete. The hairdresser refused and said she had to finish my hair that night. So we continued on, I was very impatient and as she completed my hair, I packed my stuff ready to leave.

I ended up finishing at about 7:30pm and got to church at about 8pm, a whole hour late. I wasn’t sure if I would make it in time for the preaching but I still rushed there with the hope that I’d at least get to sing the closing songs or so.

We arrived at church a little after 8 and did not miss a thing. The children’s program was JUST ending and the pastor was JUST preparing to speak about being filled with the Holy Spirit.

I sat very focused and received a message from God that gave me comfort. He told me today may just be the day I had been waiting for. I was calmer than previous times when I sat expecting to be baptized by the Holy Spirit.

I knew it was coming. I had an appointment that could not be cancelled.

Then the alter call came about. The pastor called everyone that “wanted to be filled with the Holy Spirit” to the altar. As I contemplated only a little bit thinking “am I filled? I’m filled right?? Yeah I’m good”, I found myself rushing to the altar.

I stood there (I would usually kneel) saying/singing “ I WANT MORE, I WANT MORE, I WANT MORE, I WANT MORE” I could feel it coming. The pastor touched me and prayed over me then walked away and before I knew it, according to my little brother, I was screaming at the top of my lungs for about 3 minutes. I don’t remember every moment of it but I do remember my voice getting louder and me saying things I had no control over. I remember the feeling of the Holy Spirit taking over, taking control, rushing into me, filling me up; it felt amazing.

I didn’t want to fall, I had always been afraid of falling and being baptized by the Holy Spirit then I remembered God would never give you something you can’t handle; so I didn’t fall. I was just very jittery and blown away.

I still am blown away and when I was done screaming and receiving his mighty power, I couldn’t believe it happened. But it did happen.

I had an appointment with the Holy Spirit; today is the day that the Lord has made. He called me; He reached out to me and fulfilled what needed to be fulfilled. And I listened!

Listen, follow, MOVE. Don’t miss your chance.

God is real, Jesus is the way and the life, and The Holy Spirit was in fact left within us and does in fact dwell within us. ACCEPT IT!!
